Top 7 Most Gut-Wrenching Netflix Horror Movies in 2019

Top 7 horror movies

Netflix is adding some truly disturbing horror movies to it’s site in 2019. If you’re like me, and enjoy watching anything and everything gory, gut-wrenching and stomach-churning, then here’s seven horror movies you have to check out.

Top 7 Most Gut-Wrenching Netflix Horror Movies in 2019

7. The Invitation (2015, Karyn Kusama)

This indie horror-mystery is full of suspense and many surprises. It follows a man called Will (played by the brilliant Logan Marahall-Green) who accepts his ex-wife’s invitation to a bourgeois dinner party.

But she’s changed. And something doesn’t seem right.

This is a slow-burner and often frustrating to watch, but it is worth the wait as it holds one of the most bizarre and shocking twists in modern cinematic history. I’m serious. Watch it.

6. Train to Busan (2016, Sang-ho Yeon)

This South-Korean zombie flick is full of blood, brains and intestines on trains.

The zombies are nothing like that of The Walking Dead. They are fast, smart and deadly.

5. Zombieland (2009, Ruben Fleischer)

Another zombie flick. This one’s way more uplifting. It’s genuinely hilarious and much less gory. And it has an awesome cameo from Bill Murray.

4. The Conjuring (2013, James Wan)

The birth of a few terrible spinoffs (the less said about Anabelle and The Nun, the better) but James Wan truly is a brilliant modern director of horror, and it shows here.

Watch this one with the lights out and volume up and I promise, you and your date will scream in pleasure.

3. Poltergeist (1982, Tobe Hooper)

From the messed-up guy who brought you The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (one shivers at THAT eyeball scene), this is a true classic in the horror genre.

As the title suggests, this film is based around a poltergeist that terrorizes a family. It was pretty unique at the time though. And it’s written by Steven Spielberg.

2. Final Destination (2000, James Wong)

Top 7 horror movies

This whole franchise has recently been added to Netflix and it’s such a blast. Witness here some of the most creative and gory deaths in film.

I remember watching these films as a child and everyday objects would begin to terrify me. I would imagine a signpost falling and splitting my skull open, or a champagne cork shooting into my eye and all the way through my head.

Those were the days.

1. Green Room (2015, Jeremy Saulnier)

A punk rock band play a gig at a Neo-Nazi skinhead bar. All’s going well. Then they witness a murder… What could possibly go wrong next?

This film literally had me on the edge of my seat, I’ve never sympathised with punk rocking teens before and I don’t expect I will again. But I was rooting for these kids to survive so bad.

This is a film that will use everyday objects as a weapon of murder. A snooker cue. A screwdriver. You name it.

X-Men’s Patrick Stewart stars as leader of the Neo-Nazi’s. His performance cannot be missed. It’s wheely good.
